Direct Services

Direct Services Program assists over 4,000 people per year with a variety of basic emergency needs such as a 4-day emergency food supply, medications, clothing, toiletries or transportation vouchers.

Eligibility Guidelines 

Clients accessing the emergency services at ESM must:

  • live in one of ESM zip code service areas (80903, 80905, 80906, 80907, 80909, 80910, 80916, 80926). For those living outside these zip codes, assistance might be provided with a written referral from a primary agency in their zip code. Other exceptions may apply.
  • be age 19 through 59.
  • provide a photo ID.
  • provide social security cards for every member in the household. 

In addition, restrictions apply for the each of the following services. Additional qualifications or restrictions may apply.

Emergency Food Pantry
Based on income levels and emergency needs.
Food pantry can be accessed four times a year. 

 Gas Vouchers
  Must bring valid driver's license.
  Must bring valid insurance.
  Other restrictions may apply.  

 

USDA Commodities Program
Monthly food distribution based on income levels.
Must have a "commodities" card.
Can apply for a card at ESM.
 

  Bus Tokens/Vouchers
  Only for Colorado Springs bus system.
  Other restrictions may apply. 

 


Clothing Closet

Based on need, supplied from ESM's closet.
If neccessary, a voucher to ARC will be issued.
No ARC vouchers are issued to the homeless. 
 

 
  Medication/Prescriptions
  Must bring written prescription.
  Non-narcotics only.
  Other restrictions may apply.

Shower Facility
ESM has shower facilities that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis during the following times: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Soap, shampoo and a towel are provided.

In response to the Gospel, ESM promotes self-sufficiency and restores dignity by providing food, medicine, housing, job placement, educational programs, and spiritual encouragement.

ESM provides a collaborative Christian response to low income and homeless people in crisis. 

ESM will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations prohibiting discrimination.
